Faith is not a virtue
to boast about in Church;
Not a badge of honor
to wear before the crowd.
Faith is not a duty
to be performed, or else...
Not an obligation
to keep a soul from hell.
Embrace your faith with thanks
and never hold with pride;
The gift of love from heaven
that opened up your eyes.
The man without your faith
is not a wretch to scorn;
A brother from the same womb
which gave birth to us all.
Faith gushes up from within
If not, it can't be forced;
And doubt is not a trick,
A devil's deadly curse.
A consequence of reason
given to man at birth;
Minds that ask hard questions
for the improvement of the earth.
So, step down from that high horse
With them, work hand in hand
who doubt your premise a little
but wish what's best for all humans
If love from heaven's the source
of all that we believe;
Then love for man's the proper course,
worth more than bended knees.
